The Paul Verevis Mix and Match
A Mix & Match is a social competition where dancers enter as individuals and get randomly paired with a partner of the opposite role. This format emphasises improvisation and connection, rather than relying on pre-rehearsed routines or familiar partners.

Since our very first event in 2003, the Mix & Match has been an exciting feature of Hullabaloo. In 2012, it was renamed in Paul Verevis’ honour to promote the ethos that we strive to embody: that Lindy Hop is for everyone to enjoy, and that everyone has the right to feel welcome in this joyous and supportive community.
Whilst it is a competition, it’s mostly about having fun! Our expert judges will be looking for partner connection and teamwork, musicality (timing, creativity, flow), and the incredible joy and passion that makes Lindy Hop so special!

REMEMBERING PAUL
The Mix & Match at Hullabaloo is named after late Perth swing dancer Paul Verevis. “Paulie” to his friends, Paul was the heart and soul of the Perth Lindy Hop community. He was always the first person on the dancefloor, and the last to leave. If you were a new face in the scene, Paulie would make it a priority to ask you to dance. He was a friend to everyone, and one of the kindest and most generous dancers. He was also an unofficial Hullabaloo ambassador, passionately promoting the festival at every interstate and international event he attended.
WHEN AND WHERE
This year, the Paul Verevis Mix & Match will be held on Saturday night at The Joint is Jumpin’ at Fremantle Town Hall.
More information on how to participate has been announced on our Facebook page, and will be announced on the night!
